I am a deer hunting addict. There is no cure for what I have nor is there a medicine to ease my addiction. Of course I don’t seek one or care to fix myself either.
Hunting entered my life shortly after walking did. My father was a hunting fanatic that would chase anything with fur or feathers and as early as I can remember I’ve wanted to be in the woods too. My passion started while squirrel hunting at the age of nine and grew into the sickness I now have at 13 when I went on my first deer hunt. Over the past several years I’ve learned much about deer hunting and yet I still find every year I have so much more to learn. While most of my hunting is done with a bow I don’t limit it to that. I also enjoy hunting with an in line muzzleloader and have recently finished building my own Hawkins. I look forward to taking a gun I built myself out into the woods for a hunt. Along with the new muzzleloader I finished, I’ve also obtained a few traditional bows. I am now shooting a long bow and a recurve as well as my compound. The addition of the traditional bows has really helped me with my compound shooting as well.
As I get older I find I enjoy more and more the time I get to shoot or just to scout and get into the woods. My hunting is not exclusive to deer. I also hunt
As much as hunting means to me and is a part of me it’s not all I am. I am a father and a husband. My wife and son are my life and the things I’m most proud of. My son is getting older and is now shooting a bow and a gun. He also is going on shorter hunts with me for deer and turkey. It’s time to get him prepared for when he is old enough to hunt himself. My wife, Andrea, provides me with all the support a man could ask and is more than patient with me as I travel out of state for days on end as I chase my dreams and hunt these illusive animals.
